Zumastor is Free software that adds enterprise storage features (primarily improved snapshots and remote replication) to Linux.

You can read all about it in the Zumastor Howto. The current release is 0.8, which adds several bugfixes (in particular, replication between x86 and x86_64 hosts now works) and experimental native Hardy packages.

But it doesn’t stop there. There are additional tools for testing, SOA governance, security… and the list goes on and on. London-based Alfresco Software Inc. has taken direct aim at Microsoft’s popular SharePoint collaboration software by adding similar functionality to its open source content management software. The clincher: transparency and integration with Microsoft Office.

Businesses now can download a beta version of Alfresco Labs 3 and import or export data to and from Office files and into Alfresco’s repository just as they would with SharePoint. Alfresco Labs 3 has the same look and feel as SharePoint, but with one big difference: It’s free.

Palo Alto (USA) – Da ieri la comunità Linux ha a disposizione un nuovo file system di livello enterprise, il Tru64 Unix Advanced File System (AdvFS), software di cui HP ha deciso di aprire il codice sorgente pubblicandolo sotto la licenza GPL2.  Link originale
